The owner Marcel ran extension cords from a near by building with power to ensure the continental breakfast went on like normal. Early one morning a transformer exploded on a near by street throwing the area and the Hotel into a power outage situation. The beautify of this is that it is located within walking distance of the Downtown area shops and restaurants. The bathroom was a good size and spotless, towels were neatly hung and all were clean. Our room was a nice size one Queen size bed, TV, dresser, table and chairs, coffee maker and for those who sleep with fans all year round will love that all rooms have a fan. The historic photos on the wall were a fascinating look back in time in St John's. The walk up the solid wood bannister stair case accented with a carpet runner was like walking into the past history of this hotel. In seconds we were checked in after a busy day of visiting friends and taking in the sites of the city. We were greeted at check like we were old friends. I am seeking legal advice and contacting other property that have been defamed. TripAdvisor should not be posting things until they are verified. At the moment my employee call me I was shopping for supplies at Costco.I have proof. I run business for 40 years and I do not hid from anybody especial a person with no class. You said I hid from you in another room ,This is so stupid. You left because you found some family in St. you book a three bedroom apartment with two bathrooms and full kitchen with all beautiful hard wood floors in adjacent building.not the Captain Quarters hotel.I gave you a set rate for three weeks of $2000. YOU should be ashamed of yourself to defame such a brave man. one of our loyal customers and a brave Newfoundlander, a hero in my books got shot in his attempt to help our bartender. Finally, the owner was extremely nice ("Newfoundland nice") and he personally drove me to the airport just to save me the cab fare.… Also, if you like to play pool they have a free pool table in one of the main rooms on the first level. I saved the best for last.the price was right (my two bedroom apartment was cheaper than most of the hotel rooms downtown) and the location is an Excellent downtown location near all the best restaurants and shops and a nice/large grocery store (with a natural food section)! I am very glad to have found the Captain's Quarters and I will stay there again in the future. ![]() My only complaint was the street light outside was a little bit too bright at night but I solved the problem with my sleep mask. In addition, the bed was Very comfortable and I had laundry machine access just down the hall. The furnished apartment was large and open and checked all of my boxes.including being clean, private & quiet (I could practice my Pimsleur Spanish lessons in privacy) and with a bathtub (for us bathers a shower alone isn't enough to feel clean). I stayed in one of the two bedroom apartments (in an adjoining building to the Captain's Quarters main building) that faced the back of the property. John's, Newfoundland for my annual birthday vacation which most of my friends think is a strange place to go for vacation but that is just because they have never experienced the beauty and serenity of Newfoundland and they have never met the Newfoundlanders which are some of the nicest people in the world. I could have gone anywhere in the world and I have already been many places but I chose St. Hotels near Jelly Bean Tours - Private Tours.
